Disco Elysium: The Final Cut is a game I’ve been waiting for. Ever since Disco Elysium was released in October 2019 I’ve wanted to play it. However, my PC is terrible and, more importantly, I’m scared of keyboard controls. But then console ports were announced. Yay! But instead of diving right into a PS4 version of Disco Elysium: The Final Cut, I decided that the Google Stadia version is better suited for this game? Why Stadia? Watch to find out. Mentioned:

Google Stadia has been a great video gaming platform for me. I love its ease-of-use. I love the selection of games. I love the controller. But there’s actually way more to love about Google Stadia than a lot of us realize. In this video I present five Google Stadia tricks and Tips. These are five things that Google Stadia can do that are not talked about very much. I show you how Google Stadia tandem mode works. I show you how to use PS4 DualShock and Xbox controllers with the Google Chromecast Ultra. I show you how to prioritize Google Stadia on your home Wi-Fi network. And I show you how to broadcast Google Stadia to YouTube when playing via the Google Chromecast Ultra.

Amazon Luna is a great service, so why don’t I play video games with it very often? I’ve had access to the Amazon Luna Beta for approximately 2 months, and though I determined that Google Stadia only narrowly edged out Luna in a head-to-head battle of the two game streaming services, see that video linked below, I’ve since been playing Google Stadia way more than that narrow victory would imply. What’s keeping me from playing Amazon Luna more? At the end of two months, is Amazon Luna worth it? Is Amazon Luna good? When Amazon Luna comes out of beta, will that be the solution to all its problems? Mentioned: Google Stadia vs. Amazon Luna. Who is the Real Stream Dream?

Cyberpunk 2077 on Google Stadia is considered one of the best ways to play the highly anticipated video game. How did this happen? Stadia is surging right now because CD Projekt Red created broken versions of the game for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. But to suggest that Stadia lucked into this position is simply wrong. Stadia has been built to handle spec-intensive games like Cyberpunk 2077. Even if PS4 and Xbox One ran the game well, Stadia is still delivering on its value proposition. If Stadia didn’t work, it would be suffering in the headlines just as PS4 and Xbox One are right now. But it’s not, because Google Stadia works. CD Projekt Red’s failure to make a game that can play on last-gen consoles has allowed Stadia to shine. It didn’t make Stadia better. Stadia has been good for a long time. What do I think should Stadia do now? Honestly, nothing. Stadia should keep doing what it’s doing. Continue providing a solid service. Continue adding games. Expand the service to even more countries. Take this Cyberpunk 2077 bump as a windfall. Remember, Stadia was giving away controllers and chromecast ultras before the news of the broken game broke. They already saw Cyberpunk 2077’s release as an event to build a campaign around. Any change in course due to this windfall is a deviation from the long-term plans and would likely compromise those plans. Mentioned:

I played Cyberpunk 2077 through the night. No sleep. Here I give my first impressions of the game immediately following that full night of no sleep. Is Cyberpunk 2077 good? Is my review positive? Well, maybe, but my no-sleep brain won’t really let me articulate such thoughts very well. Enjoy this awful video. Mentioned: Disk Cart’s channel

I’ve been promising an Amazon Luna versus Google Stadia game streaming comparison video for a while now. Finally, here it is. Originally, this versus video was going to be my only Amazon Luna video. But as I played more and more with Luna I realized that I needed to make separate videos dedicated to each of Luna’s important aspects. Those aspects are 1) the controller, 2) the input latency and streaming quality, and then 3) I would also need an overall review video that includes my thoughts on the game selection, user interface, and subscription model. All three of those videos are linked below. So, now that I’m properly familiar with Amazon Luna, I feel like I can make a better comparison against Google Stadia. How does the input latency compare? How does the controller compare? How does the game selection, user interface, and all the other goodies compare? Mentioned:

A few days ago the creative director at Stadia Games & Entertainment Montreal Studio tweeted that video game streamers should have to pay a licensing fee for the games they stream. I believe that most of the initial anger from gamers stemming from Hutchinson’s comment is due to the history of mutual respect that the games industry seems to have with its players, in general. Games are meant to be fun. Anger is anathema to the idea of gaming, and despite the industry being massive and a lot of developer workplace environments being lousy with unfairness and harassment, publishers still very much market games as fun above all else. And gamers have supported the industry since the beginning, helping the collective “community” through all the non-fun parts, through the crash in the early eighties, through the media demonizing of arcades, through the government demonizing games that depict violence, so to see “one of our own” like Alex Hutchinson say something seemingly anti-gamer feels traitorous. But legally speaking, are streamers doing something illegal when they stream games? The short answer is, probably.
